Sharie Sommerville: Hello...I recently acted in a college play, thinking that It would be a cinch. I teach English and drama and even directed..well, I was dead wrong! I just so happened to be enrolled in a beginning theatre class, where we did daily exercises and skits and studied( yes, studied) acting. Did I need all that? Yes! My skills were there( I CAN act Really!)but I learned so much more about acting that I really did a fantastic job in my play. The exercises you do daily were so important to being a well defined, disciplined and serious actor that I am taking more classes, just so I can better help my students act. I strongly suggest acting classes and even some classes in theatre and stage as well....Show more
Mercedez Trabue: Of course you don't have to. However it is a good idea. Directors tend to look for people with professional help and experience. However some people are born to act you could be one of them.Break a leg...Show more
Benita Nancy: ! nope! i havent really taken any classes but do all the shows and get good parts. being in the show, watching other actors, and listening when the director tells you notes are all just as helpful as classes. for some things such as proper projection and how to move so that youre playing to the audience are helpful but not necessary. some of the best actors arent trained, and some people who went to school for it will never get a job. it really depends on you natural talent and how you personally are able to channel it....Show more
Marty Tichnell: no but if you do decide to purse acting then get a good one on one acting coach.
