Caroyln Ebach: Ha! you are a registered nurse....and you wanna go into real estate? Real estate agents are paid on commission work. You only make a cut of what the real estate properties and entities sell for and you must follow rules set by your agency. Also, if you dont sell, you dont make bank. Also, you may go 4 months without a paycheck, more or less. And again, it's commission work. The more time you put in, the more you are likely to get paid. It's a rough, cut-throat trade.

Jed Porada: You have probably already seen the answers that say 6% for sale of a house. What you haven't seen are the hidden costs of being a realtor. First, if there is another Realtor or agent involved, then you will split the commission (3%). As a new Realtor, you will be working for a broker who will get a cut! of the commission. You will also need to rent office space, and a phone line. You will also need to do advertising for the properties you do list. This is definately a people business, so it will take time to build a customer base. There was a glut of Realtors over the past 5 years (a growth of almost 100%), so there is plenty of competition. There is also a housing recession taking place, so very few properties that are actually closing (and not many sellers who want to list with a brand spanking new Realtor). With all that said, I would hope to break even the first year - and be thankful to be starting during a weed out period. Dalila Yoon: You are not looking for any university to get a truly property agent license. You take a path and take a seat for an examination. Then, you get a task at a truly property company.. You acquire no revenue most effective commissions. In my discipline truly property dealers are ravenous correct now. The marketplace is terrible and the banks are comfortably now not granting mortgages.
