Global Warming = Global Goodness?

Efren Clankscales: I know what you mean, but why would we just let the end come?? We have future generations, and are we going to ruin their lives because of the bull$h!T we do?? Where would they live? I understand how this is all progressing too fast and can't be stopped but we can at least hope that our children and their children and their children etc... all have a future, and dont just die by the sun... (OMG IM SMART)

Rolanda Merritt: your point is specious, but let me straighten something out for you. most of your points are far left not ,independent.

Russ Kiernan: your ignorant.....its too tough so jsut give up? complacency and laziness is not what the country needs. So you'd rather see your children and grand-children and great grand-children be forced to live in an awful world (or even not be able to survive) rather than doing something now. You're sick! There's something wrong with you if you can give up the planet and its 6 billion inhabitant! s because its too hard. Grow up and take a stand for something you ignorantly spineless person....Show more

Debora Rinderer: I have been fighting global warming skeptics for a long time now ,here in Environment ,and they keep coming ,it seems they are increasing so if the people dont give a damn ,what can the minority of us do to make them change ,they refuse ,so i am beginning to agree with you Lets have a big party for a couple of years ,those who survive that ,can play with Global Warming....Show more

Hong Hunkin: We know we cant stop global warming, we are just trying to slow it or reduce the damages we are causing, because we are still living and we also want to have children, so on. That's why we want to change to a sustainable development, for the other generations that haven't come yet.

Donte Schoenhals: I believe the proper attitude is to say, "This is a great opportunity, as history has shown up, in which to expand our horizons and improve our ! civilization."History has shown that previous Global Warmings ! have given more food, more employment, more room in which to operate, and led to prosperity and expansions in the arts and at least some science areas, all the good things people enjoy and find uplifting. I say let's let our economy expand, not tax it to death. We know how to limit government to its proper sphere, now let's DO it, and prosper. And we know how to treat the greedy and the myopic among us, so they do not get in the way of advances in overall civilization of all the peoples of the earth. We need to expand our freedoms as the temperature climbs, knowing it will go down in global cooling later on. And we need to consolidate our gains then.I think once we get the greedy and lying politicians and governments wiped aside, we should check with astronomers and see the prognosis for an asteroid hit, and make plans accordingly. But right now, pull the plug on the gloom-and-doomsayers and their projects, stop the rape of the jungles for carbon credits to make Gore ri! cher, and move ahead with plans to capitalize on the warmth and changes for the good of all humanity. With shallow seas coming, aquaculture of sea plant and animal life could add good variety to our dinner tables and give good employment to a whole new set of "farmers."Expand our horizons, not contract them into a tiny restricted area hemmed in by politicians and regulations and taxes taxes taxes.I'm all for staking my corner of Greenland and growing luscious grapes for my table and yours! How about you??? Join me in a chilled glass of fresh-squeezed grape juice before you leave?...Show more

Elaina Adolfson: The economic costs of dealing with unreduced global warming will throw the world into a Depression. One that will make the 1930s look like good times.Want to live through that? There's a reasonable and affordable plan that will reduce global warming enough to avoid that. Here:http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/0,1518,4...http://www.ipcc.ch/SPM040507.pdfGo! vernments around the world, including China, are realizing that this is! not a hard choice. This is not a "far left" issue:"Former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich challenged fellow conservatives to stop resisting scientific evidence of global warming""Pat Robertson (very conservative Christian leader) 'It is getting hotter and the ice caps are melting and there is a build up of carbon dioxide in the air. We really need to do something on fossil fuels.”Ford Motor Company CEO William Clay Ford, Jr. "I believe there is now more than enough evidence of climate change to warrant an immediate and comprehensive - but considered - response. Anyone who disagrees is, in my view, still in denial.""The science of global warming is clear. We know enough to act now. We must act now."James Rogers, CEO of Charlotte-based Duke Energy. "Global warming is real, now, and it must be addressed."Lee Scott, CEO, Wal-Mart Company...Show more

Marvel Mcaulay: I'm glad Benjamin went to the trouble of showing you all the various errors in your argument, bec! ause I'm really tired of this one too. I suggest you stick to the Politics section. Here in the Environment section, scientific evidence is a prerequisite for a valid argument. Political rhetoric just doesn't cut it. Too bad you didn't read the whole article (it's not exactly a novel!), because you seem to have missed the critical information. You even quoted it in your question! "The mechanism at work on Mars appears, however, to be different from that on Earth. One of the researchers, Lori Fenton, believes variations in radiation and temperature across the surface of the Red Planet are generating strong winds. In a paper published in the journal Nature, she suggests that such winds can stir up giant dust storms, trapping heat and raising the planet’s temperature."...Show more
