Do i need car insurance in the state of pa if i dont have a car? ?

Rosalba Lingner: Nope. Some states, like North Carolina, require insurance to get a license, but Pennsylvania doesn't.As for driving your mom's car, she should add you to her insurance as a driver.

Wilfred Santacruce: You do not need insurance to get your license or to have a license, however, you cannot under any circumstances drive a vehicle without car insurance. If you want to be able to drive your mothers car from time to time then she will have to add you to her insurance policy and add you as a driver for that vehicle. You also cannot drive your friend's car without car insurance. Essentially, if you have a license, but no car insurance, then your license is not valid for use. Because you are under the age of 25, I strongly recommend you have your name put on as "sometimes" driver on the least sporty car your family owns; it will help to reduce the cost, which will be higher than for most people. If you have under 2 accidents by the age of 25, then your! insurance rates will drop significantly. Also note, you must purchase insurance for each far you drive or own. So if you want to drive two different cars, you have to put insurance on each of those cars....Show more
