Pam Rampadarat: Manufacturers' maintenance schedules are easy to find; any shop worthy of its tool set will have them or will know how to find them quickly.
Claudio Drullard: Its all written in the owners manual or service manual that comes with every car . What to service check replace at what intervals to do it. Most off us never do half the things that manual says to do but its all there. Look in the glove box and read the book.
Bell Pasco: If YOU don't know what needs to be done at a certain interval, as stated in the owners manual, you can get screwed over by anyone. It's your responsibility to know what is needed, when it's needed and why. Also, research on what each service entails.
Valentine Willinger: Absolutely! There is no reason whatsoever to bring your car to a dealership for basic schedule maintenance once your warranty has expired. In fact, basic maintenance can be performed by an independent automotive center before your warranty has e! xpired and your warranty would still be honored.
Keven Drumgole: Never read your owner manual? It's in the glove box!
Craig Virani: MAYBE. Any decent mechanic can actually DO the scheduled maintenance on the vehicle, even while it is under warranty. That said, as the maintenance intervals are now less standardized than they once were, it is more common for shops to actually READ THE MANUAL for recommended service intervals for newer cars.
Gaylord Barragan: There is no reason to continue to go to the Dealership. You can take it to any trusted mechanic shop. All new cars come with a booklet or maintenance schedule. It's usually found in the glove box along with an owners manual. This schedule has all the required maintenance items listed as recommended by the cars manufacturer. Beware of mechanics who will try to sell you on more maintenance than is acutely required. Even Dealerships will often recommend more maintenance than is shown in the schedu! le. So figure out what is actually recommended and required b! y the manufacturer and follow that only. You can find it online if you have lost the schedule that came with the car. It is also worth noting that modern cars, require much less maintenance than cars from the past. Automotive technology is much more advanced and much of the normal maintenance that was required on car made 10 or 20 years ago is no longer required....Show more
