Erin Arron: The Sony HDR-SR12 is a hard drive based camcorder that records high definition video through the camcorder's lens and store highly compressed AVCHD format (MTS/MT2S) files. It does not have "AV-In" recording capabilities using any cables. Most camcorders don't.If you had a camcorder with AV-in capabilituies - or if you had an "analog/digital bridge" like those from Pinnacle (Dazzle) or Canopus, you would need a "y-cable" at the video source, then one side of the Y goes to the TV, and the other side of the Y goes to the A/D bridge or camcorder.
